Details on the biggest overhaul of farm subsidies in 50 years have been unveiled today. Setting out how the Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) and Countryside Stewardship (CS) will change, the document outlines how new schemes under ELM (Environmental Land Management) will be piloted and introduced over the next 4 years up to 2024 – by which time, farmers are told to expect a 50% reduction in BPS.
